Hi! I’m Alessandra Marzano, the creator and founder of Kowy®. I am thrilled and grateful to have you here! 

Passion & Mission  

Let me share with you a bit about our products and mission. 

Kowy® is a family brand that’s aimed to make eyeglass wearers happier, more stylish, confident, and empowered. I’m proud to say that our accessories have been brightening outfits (and days!) of countless people since we built the brand. Now, let me tell you how they’ve illuminated my path and changed my life.  

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and moved to the USA when I was 18 years old to go to college. After being awarded a Summa Cum Laude for my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from JWU in Miami and a fabulous internship in advertising in NYC, I was on the way to building a successful career but something was always missing.

I have worked in different fields for many years, from Fashion to Real Estate, but I was never quite satisfied with whatever I was working on. I was looking for something to inspire and spark creativity within me. 

How It All Started

Kowy® was one of those ideas which invaded my mind.  I got so abscessed and passionate about bringing that vision to fruition.

The idea popped into my mind while I was out for dinner with a friend. I watched at a table next to us, where a boy was continuously crying. He pushed his mom’s hands away as she lovingly tried to put on these tiny prescription glasses on the boy’s face. The parents, clearly tired and saddened by the situation, had no way of making the spectacles more fun or exciting to distract the boy and have him stay calm.

Kowy® was born!

That scenario kick-started my research, which made me realize how often eyeglasses-wearing teenagers go through tough times. I found out that when glasses are introduced to their lives, kids and teens start having issues at school, fighting with their friends, and even having strange episodes at home. Their self-confidence drops, and so does their happiness. Bullying and low self-esteem can all be extremely harmful to the individual and, consequently, those around him or her.

As a woman approaching my 40s, the use of prescription glasses would soon be inevitable; although I wasn’t looking forward to wearing them, I also knew they come with benefits. I guess I was already dreading this moment. And in that brief instance, as I watched that boy, it was a eureka moment for me as it inspired a solution for my dilemma. 

Introducing different fun jewels for eyewear felt like the best way to turn the use of prescription glasses from boring and upsetting, to cool and exciting. And so, I finally founded Kowy® in 2018. 

As a fashion lover with an incredible fascination for change, I envisioned Kowy® taking over all of my glasses’ and sunglasses’ temples. I let my creativity run wild, and because I did, Kowy® accessories have also found their way into people’s lives and wardrobes.

I enjoy and appreciate fashion because of its versatility and power to boost someone's self-confidence. These may just be fashion accessories to some, but they can be quite life-changing; their effects go way beyond the surface and are felt on a much deeper level. The right accessory can improve one’s outfit and feel more empowered to face the day.
